UNDP Poverty Reduction Programme
Part of the Millennium Development Goals. This program advocates for nationally-owned solutions to reduce poverty and promote human development. They sponsor innovative pilot projects; connect countries to global good practices and resources; promote the role of women in development; and bring governments, civil society and outside funders together to coordinate their efforts.

The MDGs represent a global partnership that has grown from the commitments and targets established at the world summits of the 1990s. Responding to the world's main development challenges and to the calls of civil society, the MDGs promote poverty reduction, education, maternal health, gender equality, and aim at combating child mortality, AIDS and other diseases. Set for the year 2015, the MDGs are an agreed set of goals that can be achieved if all actors work together and do their part. Poor countries have pledged to govern better, and invest in their people through health care and education. Rich countries have pledged to support them, through aid, debt relief, and fairer trade.

The International Poverty Centre (IPC) is a joint project between the United Nations Development Programme and the Brazilian Government to promote South-South Cooperation on applied poverty research. It specializes in analyzing poverty and inequality and offering research-based policy recommendations on how to reduce them. IPC is directly linked to the Poverty Group of the Bureau for Development Policy, UNDP and the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea), which does research for the Brazilian Government.

Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Poverty and Inequality Research Unit.
The mission of the Unit is to provide technical leadership for the Bank and its member governments in the areas of poverty reduction and promoting social equity, and to contribute to enhancing the quality of the Bank's lending and non-lending activities so as to increase their impact on poverty reduction and social equity.
The Unit is also responsible for monitoring the Bank's portfolio with respect to how loans are targeted to assist the poor, and for providing support to improve poverty targeting mechanisms within operations. In addition, the Unit assists in knowledge-building, including fostering links to worldwide expertise and ensuring access by staff and clients to this knowledge infrastructure; and seeks to improve the quality of information and analysis of poverty and inequality.

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) is a public corporation created by the Parliament of Canada in 1970 to help developing countries use science and technology to find practical, long-term solutions to the social, economic, and environmental problems they FACE. The Centre's operations in Latin America and the Caribbean are guided by a regional office located in Montevideo, Uruguay. This office coordinates the Centre's operations in 49 countries, in a territory extending from Mexico to the southern tip of Argentina and Chile. In the past 30 years, IDRC has supported 1,957 research projects directed and managed by Latin American and Caribbean researchers and institutions. Research related to social and economic equity is the largest focus of IDRC's support in the region.
